Sore head

Had an excellent evening watching my son play rugby last night.
It was a total testosterone fuelled grudge match against the next seafront rugby club town in our little bay here on the south west coast of England. Social media insults met reality for 80 minutes in front of a crowd of parents, and even teachers from various local schools who had become aware of the rivalry, wanting a bit of first hand knowledge of whatever actually happened before having to deal with it at work.

It was an amazing match, hard fought, crunching tackles, outstanding effort by both sides, finished with us losing 22-17. You get 5 points for a 'try' in rugby though (similar to a touchdown in American football), so a single try won the game, it is not anything to be too smug about.

Anyway, rugby clubs always have a clubhouse which sells beer, so not wanting to be rude, I indulged, hence the sore head today. I'm self employed though and have a deadline for my current job so this lazy day at home just means I'm working Saturday or Sunday instead now.
I'm glad we have the internet in our lives though, all my friends are working right now so there's a risk I'd be tempted to watch daytime TV without it Laughing

Sounds like a couple pints too many for you after watching a good game.

Oh NO! Anything but daytime TV!

Rugby.. I love rugby. No one plays around here anymore though.

@standready, Yep perhaps one or two, never a good idea before an early alarm clock.

@onebadpenny, That got me interested and I discovered the US has no professional national rugby league, but there are hopes for it to start one day as it's popularity grows.

I noticed you posted about San Francisco in your blog, so if that was my area I'd be checking out San Francisco Golden Gate RFC at 'Ray Sheeran Field' on Treasure Island - I'd love my address to be Treasure Island Laughing They compete in Northern California Rugby Football Union's Division I and also the USA Rugby Elite Cup. They're playing a home match against Seattle(OPSB) RFC, in the Elite Cup Semi Final a couple of weeks from now on May 11th.
I'd definitely be interested in going if I was nearby.

Sweet! I was referring to University of California Berkeley's Old Blues rugby program being dropped. It was an institution and I still can't believe they're gone. C'est la vie. I'll definitely check out your recommendations Smile I love Treasure Island. Watching rugby there sounds like a special treat!
