My (not so) peaceful garden...

Day off today so I'm enjoying the end of a long weekend, chilling out in the garden. Here's a silly short recording I just made of the constant sound of seagulls around my house.
I love the birds to be honest but 5 minutes silence once in a while wouldn't be a bad thing! Smile

Yes, those are some noisy birds. I have a few flying around here even though I am 25 miles from the lake.

Lucky you! Gardens are nice and gulls can be noisy yeah! If you throw food around they just make more. - A loud headset of your favorite music? I get crows in the early hours.

I was just sat outside again after work, and you know what, I actually love their silly sounds and the 'gang fights' they have over scraps of food.
I've lived at many different bits of coast around the UK all my life, never inland, and to be fair to the gulls, we built our houses on the clifftops so by default, our roofs are now the replacement nesting sites. certainly beats endless traffic noise in a concrete jungle city or similar, I shall stop complaining and instead celebrate these crazy feathered friends all around my home Smile

I have other bird sounds. Razz

I made this video in april when I wrote a review about my new smartphone. (HTC Wildfire) The video was originally made to give a look at the quality of the camera, rather than actually showing something, therefor, don't be bothered with what you see in the video. Razz

The reason I post this here, is because you can hear some birds too on this video. Smile

I actually like my birds more, their sound is softer and less aggressive but I guess it is bonded with memories (some people have good memories when they were at the seaside, seagulls making noises takes the back to those days or like myself, I have good memories when I was in the forest taking a break whilst listening to the birds) and other things too.

Ah, I really like those types of (almost singing) bird sounds. I imagine Summer meadows, really chilled and peaceful, cheers for helping that image into my thoughts Smile

...I completely understand the memories and sounds thing as well, there are many times I've felt comforted just by listening to the gulls and the sound of waves hitting the shore.
The sounds in ancient woodlands are pretty special though I admit that, for sure...just a pity there isn't so much of it left in England these days.

I like all my morning birds here. Robins, Cardinals even the black birds. Mid-day brings the gulls usually. Late afternoon my favorite, the Doves. In the night, I have an owl that likes to roost in a tree outside my bedroom.

I'm jealous of the owl standready, there are a couple of tough street crows in my neighbours tree who control the gulls a bit, and they are pretty cool, but their call is an almost hauntingly desolate sound which I'm not really into.
A few 'twit twoo's' from an owl in the evening wouldn't be complained about by me though, thats for sure Smile
