I've been friends with my neighbour since long before I moved next door to him and this evening, he is pretty glad we are mates.
His electric fuse-board fried itself for some reason when he came home from work. Plenty of blackened bits but luckily no fire. The electricity supplier is saying that because it's "after the meter", the responsibility for fixing it is his, but out of hours electricians are really expensive for the evening call out, so we found a temporary solution.
Right now, 3 leads are running from my house to his. Two downstairs powering his fridge/freezer, a light, and one leisure item (TV/Laptop/etc), and one lead from my bedroom to his, powering a couple of lights so no accidents in the toilet. lol
His only hot water has to be boiled on the gas cooker, because the main water boiler still needs electricity, but either way, he'll save a good £100.00+ by sorting it out during business hours tomorrow.
I'm more than happy to help and I'm glad that my neighbour is my friend - I've lived in enough places before where neighbours won't even give each other the time of day...let alone electricity!
