Have to ask what the role of the social media is to precipitate an event like this one, which is the prime motivation for doing what this guy did. He wanted maximum coverage of an event and created one that would get maximum coverage. And he got it. The photo is testimony in its own right.

I'm not for guns, but a psychiatrist pointed out that even if anti-gun legislation had been in place, this guy was not certified as having a mental health problem, so still would have been able to get a small gun like the one he used. Someone else from the media at CNN question marked the role of the social media as a motivation for this event. If this guy had known he would not get any social media coverage like what everyone gets when they do something like this, he may not have done what he did.

So it's not only guns that need to be targeted, but the social media as well.

Unfortunately, I see copy cats coming. Record and be infamous! Just the attention we don't need.

I see a picture of a gun pointed at a woman Shocked ...but no explaining text. Deanhills makes it sound quite serious. Please tell me this is just a bad prank and that the woman is still alive and not physically hurt. Confused

Unfortunately it's for real Peter. This news report is from BBC - very detailed but at least professional reporting:

Here's more info about what happened from Yahoo - also not a bad reporter, but very detailed as well.

I also found these links - the one more sensational than the other - Standready is right, it's this sensational reporting that must play a role in the killings and are guaranteed to result in future repeats:

And many more ....
