Does Anger Management Really Help?




I was recently assigned to anger management by the court system and i have completed almost 7 weeks now with no change with my anger issues. I have a good attitude toward the classes and really want to get something in return from these classes, otherwise its just a waste of time right? So its not that i don't want to change but maybe I'm just missing something here. I just don't see how sitting there a couple hours a day in a group style session and listening to others talk about their anger problems and the instructor tell you a bunch of shit that everyone already knows from common sense is supposed to change the way you handle your anger. Seems that anger management would provide you with more useful tools to handle your anger then to just tell you the obvious such as, Walk away, take time to think out your options etc.... Don't we already all know this? Not that everyone exercises these options and as for me i don't have that luxury. I seem to go from 0 to 10 in a flash and once your at that boiling point im sure a lot of you can agree with me you dont always have a clear head and you just react. There has to be something more you can do!
