Last-minute studying

I hate procrastinating and doing things when they are due!

I had an exam today on post-Famine Ireland and I had to read a long-ass material. I wish I had read it before. I started yesterday and spent the whole night reading it. I barely slept. To top it all, I didn't know the answer to three questions. Now I'm sleepy and didn't even do a decent exam after all my effort. Lesson to learn, kids: study when you still have time!

I think we all have experienced last-minute studying. I know it's not good but it's easy to end up there, and sometimes it's easier to study hard and focused when under time pressure.

Do you think you passed or will you have to do a re-exam?

I've been there as well with my studies. I'd go through an exam very well prepared weeks in advance. And do very well. But I've also had occasions where I started too late and had to do all nighters, and then like you cursed myself for doing that.

Where all nighters really worked though, don't know why. Is when I do assignments during the course of the semester. I just seem to be good with little sleep when I write my assignments. Like being super tired and revved up at the same time, I'm not as focused on form and detail. Like I'm much more creative, inspired and motivated. Words just come out more effortless as well.

Exam however is different. As when I'm not rested enough, I can still make it, but not as good as I should have. I lack the sharp edges of being super alert.
