|One of Italy's most famous exports could be pulled from supermarket shelves across Europe.
The European Commission has demanded Italy take "urgent measures" after mozzarella cheese, a key ingredient of pizza, was found to contain cancer-causing chemicals called dioxins.
The contaminated cheese is produced in the Campania region around the city of Naples, where illegal dumping of toxic rubbish by the mafia-controlled waste management industry has sparked riots.
The Italian authorities say they have checked samples of buffalo milk and mozzarella at 130 sites and found dioxins above maximum EU limits in 25.
The buffalo farms supplying the 25 establishments have been traced and their milk destroyed.
Italian Agriculture Minister Paolo De Castro insisted there was no health problem and tucked into some mozzarella in a photo shoot.
