Got a dog awhile back.

As the title of this post says, we got a dog awhile back. She is an adorable golden retriever mix. Very well behaved, adorable, and sweet pup. She was a stray, we thought about giving her to a business around here that finds homes for animals, but she was just so good we couldn't get rid of her. She was just so sweet and well-behaved. She was house-broken, and very quiet. Really quiet, rarely barks at all. With her being as sweet as she is we couldn't let her go, we got attached to her, so now she is our dog. We have named her and we are working on training her to do tricks and respond to her name. It is going alright, could be better but it could also be much worse. She is getting it. Honestly, compared to most dogs I have had experience with she learns relatively quickly. She is a rather young dog, no more than three according to the veterinarians that have seen her. I look forward to having her for many years to come.

Are you sure it isn't the other way around? The dog found you and you only think you're the ones keeping her around? I'm thinking she was looking at your guys and thought "now there's a house I could live in with people who will buy me food and brush my hair and take me for long walks and love me!" I know with our first cat it was more likely he chose us. He was hanging around our house and sitting in the kitchen window looking in at us. We'd feed him and we even built a shelter for him above the laundry room since the roof peaked there. He was a neutered male, probably only a few years old. I'm not going to say he was wild but he did claw my head once when I was 10... Crying or Very sad

Sounds like a great dog though. What name did you give her?

Golden retrievers in general have great personalities. Also thrives on love and affection. So seems to have found a really great home. What did you name her?

Her name is Abigail. She is adorable. She may have found us... who knows. Whatever the situation, she is a great dog. We looked for her owners and whatnot, just no luck. Their loss our gain, I guess. She is a sweetheart, flat out adorable and extremely well-behaved. We had to break her of a fear of houses... had to pick her up and carry her inside for a few days when we first got her. She is not the lightest dog I have ever known, or the heaviest.

Nice name. Wonder where the fear of houses came in. She must have had a serious fright or something.
