Today, I ran a system update on my computer, something I try to do regularly and was presented with a pleasant surprise. This quote was that surprise:
|Total Download Size: 96.68 MiB
Total Installed Size: 260.20 MiB
Net Upgrade Size: -28.25 MiB
Normally I expect a marginal upsizing or downsizing from the updates but a decrease of 28.25 MiB is not small in my opinion. This was a nice surprise as I like to see files and programs becoming better programmed and smaller in size, not necessarily happening at the same time. It put a smile on my face, so I thought I would share it with you.

Could it be that it uninstalled some packages because they where no longer needed for some reason?

Nope, nothing was uninstalled without being replaced. That was probably part of why it was surprising. It is not the first time I have seen it decrease in size without removing anything. It just was nice to see such a nice drop in size. When I upgrade my installed programs I always look to see what it is installing.
