For some reason, until now I had not noticed that there had not been any development on a program that I use. So I think it is time that I take over that project, or fork it, and bring it into the current software era. Since it currently still works (even though it has not been worked on for over half a decade) bringing it to modern capabilities should not be a problem. I will of course also be sending an email to the creator of the software asking for a link, and their permission to keep the name.
The software is xbcg, if there is another software of similar functionality available that I do not know about please let me know. Xbcg allows one to set the gamma, brightness and contrast on a server independently and tweak it to their liking.

spoon feed the software some new code?

I was thinking of updating the code to xcb, that way it continues to be useful in the coming years. After that I will probably just maintain it and occasionally add on new features where applicable.
