Open Source Robotic Sim

I have been looking for a good open source robotic simulation so if anyone knows of one please let me know. It does not matter to me if it is defunct or not, as long as it still works. I would be especially interested if it restricted one to using actual robotic components that way one could print off a list of what they needed to make the robot that they had just created.

Thank you for the links to the list, I think I have found two (though not open source) that may fit the bill. Both seem to be available for free to try (perhaps forever).

These two are near the bottom of the list linked as These in your comment. They are Cogmation's RobotBuilder and RobotSim and Webots. They both read as if they could be used to design and test a homemade robot before the parts are ordered and perhaps money wasted. Thanks for the help it is trully appreciated.

I couldn't help myself -- I just had to check out a robotics project with the excellent name of Rossum (Google it, or ask and someone will post a spoiler). I found a project with a bunch of old code, trying to move in a new direction. One item they have is "Peeves", a winning robot control program in a 2001 competition. See http://www.seattlerobotics.org/encoder/200108/using_a_pid.html .

Looks like a possible starting point for updating a proven technology, based on Lego hardware. Any votes for it as the Frihost mascot?

It looks interesting, but I just cannot find a place within the program that would give me a list of parts or even an idea of what parts I needed to buy to build a real-life version of what was created within the program. However, besides that it looks like a great peice of code to look at and study.
