I saw the Lakers win over the Warriors today via a streaming media website. This was the first Laker game I saw this season although I follow Laker game results via Lakers.COM, LakersMedia (for highlights) SBNation and LATimes quite religiously. So I know that the Lakers were coming from a loss to Memphis when they visited the Warriors for today's game.
I thought that the Lakers would win by a big margin; they practically pummeled the Warriors through the first two quarters. But then came the third quarter when Andrew Bynum showed how uncommitted he was to game. Fortunately, Brown yanked him from the game and benched him through the fourth quarter. He could have destroyed the big night of Kobe and Matt Barnes.
Matt Barnes played very well tonight. He was probably the most consistent Laker in the game. Kobe was Kobe. He shot more than he scored, but still he got enough points -- thirty of them -- to pass Jordan for second place in most points scored in one franchise. I know too that in some past games where Kobe broke a record, the Lakers lost. But tonight, he and the team did very well.
I am not putting much hope in the Lakers getting another championship this season, Ramon Sessions notwithstanding. But I do hope that they can get into the semi-finals and perhaps even into the finals.
