I've heard and read at times in the past that eating chocolate can be more pleasurable than doing the nasty. I think I understand why now.
Yesterday, while going through a list of tasks at home, I was suddenly overcome (again) with the urge to snack on something sweet. Why? Why? Why? I knew that the snacking was unnecessary and that ultimately I would regret the snack, but why do I still get these impulses? Then, suddenly, a possible explanation occurred to me.
I had been working the entire day, returning home only to continue working on personal tasks that did not yield any sense of satisfaction or pleasure. Basically, what it came down to was that my body was telling me I needed to do something to unwind, and my body suggested the quickest fix possible: eating sweets. Yes, the gratification from taking a bite out of a piece of toffee-covered chocolate comes even faster than the ... from watching adult videos.
So, I think what I learned is that I need a way to relax and re-energize myself through some "happy" activities. But what cheap or free alternatives to eating food are there?
