I've been wanting a laptop stand for a while that would suit my needs as a fairly tall person who hates to always have to bend my neck to look down at a laptop screen that's always 1-2 ft shorter than I would prefer.
Finding no suitable commercial alternative, I seized the opportunity to transform the cardboard box that held an IKEA door panel that I had to attach to a new show cabinet. The end result?

It seems to be working so far in my living room, making the laptop screen eye-level with me sitting straight on my computing chair. So far, the apparatus has been functional for about 15 minutes. I hope I won't have to write another post with a new picture showing the folly of pursuing a $0 alternative to costly laptop stands that just don't stand up (literally, in height) to my standards.

Right idea but I would not trust my laptop to rest on the cardboard. From your picture, it appears cardboard is sagging under the weight. What would happen if it got bumped?
