Senders were getting an error in the diagnostic message, when sending emails to a distribution list that I was part of. The error is as follows :-
#550 5.7.1 RESOLVER.RST.AuthRequired; authentication required ##
So basically, no distribution lists would work.
This started happening, after I changed a reverse DNS entry on the Domain Controller, so that it would reflect on the current smtp server.
To rectify the distribution list issue, I did the following in the Exchange COnsole :-
1. Go to the any of the Distribution List’s Properties.
2. Click on the Mail Flow Settings tab.
3. Double-click Message Delivery Restrictions.
4. Uncheck the box “Require that all senders are authenticated.”
THe Sender should now be able to send to the Distribution Lists.
