There are a lot of thing that if you do not know to ask you just don't. For example I was not referred to a kidney specialist during my treatment until damage had already started to happen at a rapid possession. I was made aware that the treat can cause damage but was given the CYA statement that most doctors offices are required to give. Such as there is a slim possibility that this can cause damage but we have never seen this happen. It is so important to ask questions and do the research on every drug or procedure that doctors tell you about. It is your life that is at stake! When I went to the kidney doc he told me that my kidney function was above 80% and my kidneys should bounce back after the treatment. At this point I still had 4 weeks to go and they never bounce back they only got worse even after doing everything they ask me to do. I know now that I could have gone on temporary dialysis to give my kidneys the break they need to recover from the assault of the antibiotics. I could have ask them to decrease the concentration of the antibiotics to help my kidney recover (increase length of treatment). There is argument by different infectious disease doctors on whether that one is a good idea do the research for yourself you have a right to ask questions. It is your life and you only have one!
