exams.. again

It's been around 5 weeks since I last went back home. Mostly because I have to stay at the condo to study. I do see my family every week though. They visit me every sunday and we eat dinner together.

Anyway, here are some updates!

I had a really hard time answering our exam in electromechanical systems. To make it worse, I just found out that that exam was a midterm, 40% of our grade. I was used to having 4 exams per subject per sem. But this time around they decided to give only 2 exams per sem. They say it's because students usually forget the lessons in the preceding exam once they move on to another one.

ah well. Have to study for the next one.

Good luck studying for that next one.
I do know many that can ace a test but give them the same test unannounced one week later and they will fail it.
Retention of lessons learned is more important!

you're right, it's better if we remember what we learn than just getting a good grade.

But what's happening for me is that due to the amount of lessons I have to catch up with, I end up cramming to learn them. In the end, I don't deeply understand the concepts but just learn how to solve the problems.

Hopefully, you did better than you feel like you did. However, it is better for students to learn the material and actually be able to apply it when needed later in life than just being able to pass the test. Passing a test means you can remember stuff for short periods of time, but then when it is actually needed you will not be able to use it even though your academic record says you should be able to. That is the problem with some universities application of the material is not important it only matters if you can pass the test. These institutions only serve to hurt and destroy the field that they are training and educating individuals for.
