Today I stumbled upon a website which i thought was hosted in the domain uk.to. After some research I found out that the guy was just using the subdomain of the real owner of uk.to and that he did it by using freeDNS. I didn't even know that was possible lol.
Then i looked up the freeDNS and got an account there myself. I was so amazed by the concept of that site - how it allows anyone to make a 'subdomain' of their own under any of the registered sites for free - that I created a subdomain myself. I quickly head over to directadmin and changed my domain name through the domain management section, thinking it was that simple.
It doesn't work, typing the old lightwate.frihost.org URL doesn't return anything. Changing the domain back to the previous name only returns an "Apache is working" text and not my previous site. There could be a bug? but I'm new to this so I don't know. I then instead created a new domain name (because previously i just renamed it) and then renamed the previous one back to its original frihost name. And it worked!
Then I read a few forum posts and that's where I found out that I forgot to set the name server configuration at freeDNS haha! Now to install wordpress..
