In the more rural provinces of the Philippines, it's a common sight that whenever someone passes the entrance exam to the country's premier university, the whole barrio or town celebrates and pitches in to help the student financially. This is in the hope that the student will someday return as a topnotch professional and help develop that town.
Being a third world country, tuition fee in this premier university may not go pass 1000$ a year, but for the average Filipino, that's roughly 1/5 the family's annual income.
In line with this, I would like to promote - if it is not against the rules here - a fundraising project for one of my teacher in high school, as he asks for help in order to study at harvard
Any help (even just by spreading the word) will be really helpful. Thank you
