Smartphone - should i buy now?

I've been wanting to have a smartphone for over a year now. And last December, I decided I'd use my whole year's Stipend (from my scholarship) to buy one on February. But I decided not to buy then because the smartphone industry today is evolving REALLY fast.

For example, some already made a 1.2GHz Dual Core CPU chip after just introducing their fastest 1.0GHz last year. And because of the new batch of phones that they'll release this year, the phone that I was eying since December, the Samsung Galaxy S, was given a major discount - It now only costs around 2/3 its original price.

So I was thinking, should I go buy this discounted one or should I wait for the new ones? What do you think?

Whatever you buy, it will be outdated before you get home with it. Get whichever does what you want it to for the least amount of money.

hmm Galaxy S II is really tempting. But I hope the rumored Galaxy S II mini is real. It's rumored to have a 3.7" screen, which I find just right for me. Maybe I'll wait for that Very Happy

There's this 'essay' writing contest in my country that gives the top 100 winners a 50% discount for an LG Optimus2X. I'll give it a shot. Even if the reviews say that it has a lot of issues, I expect them to be resolved via software updates. Plus, for a 50% discount on a dual core phone, worst case scenario (if the bugs can't be fixed by LG) is to install a custom rom.
