Aw that is a funny pic, although at the expense of that unique lil guy who I'm sure is considered attractive by other similar fish! Laughing

A really poor goldfish was one I rescued some months back while working to clear out and renovate a flat/apartment.
The previous residents were small time drug dealers and after their eviction the place was absolutely squalid with all the class A drug paraphernalia you would expect - pipes, wraps/tin foil, injection needles, mouldy food, and everything else you can imagine in such an environment.
I discovered a goldfish bowl filled with green water under some of the mess, and something moved, so I poured some of the stinking water out, replacing with fresh, and discovered a little goldfish battling to exist in this skanky bowl.

Quickly grabbing my phone, I posted his plight on facebook asking if anyone wanted it, a friend replied and the little guy is now living in a happy kind home. He's nuts though, and jumps out of the water in crazy diving moves before doing ridiculously fast circles of the bowl. We think he's suffering some kind of withdrawal symptoms or something and he has been given the unfortunate name of "Junkie" - oh well, he seems happy now!

Interesting fish. I wonder what it really is... considering I doubt it is a real goldfish, probably just an interesting species that appear similar to a goldfish. Would love to know what kind it is. Might have to hit up google.

Good to know that the sins of the owner are not always dealt to the pet. Way to go "Junkie!" Enjoy the new home!

Here's a pic of 'Junkie'

OK, he's not a goldfish, just some other kind of cold water fish that people keep in tanks, I've no idea what, but yep, he's safe now...and has less curious swollen cheeks than the lil guy in the OP! Laughing

I'm glad you have rescued that poor fish. It's hard to tell which type of fish is that because photo is not clear enough. Maybe he is a grey color common goldfish. Has to be careful when change water if fish has lived long time in dirty water because sudden change of water can kill them.

This Gold fish in OP is known as bubble eye. They are from China. Not much details about their origins but surly man made type in early 1900. Because of their eyes and sacks they have hard to time to eat or swim or survive in a tank with more aggressive tank mates.
