Cheap Samsung J5 Smart Phone

The Cheap Samsung J5 is described as a middle of the range smart phone. It's not top of the range "S" series, but it is not completely at the bottom either. And it is brand new. Came out in June 2015. I purchased it on impulse during the peak of summer "for fun". About a month after it came out. I was checking out a Nokia Lumia at the time and the sales guy managed to steer me in the direction of the store's newest Samsung middle of the range J phone and I haven't regretted the purchase yet.

I'm a smart phone phobe, have been trying to stay away as much as I can but lately looks as though I need to get more with it. So thought I'd buy something that would be good for a beginner, and the J5 is definitely great for a beginner. It's VERY simple to operate. The colours are brilliant. Great screen. The phone is very light (5.5 oz or 146 grams). (5.5 inch screen and 720X1280 pixels resolution). Also great camera. Primary camera is 13 MP and back camera 5 MP. OS is Android v5.a Lollipop.

Battery life is great depending on what it is used for. I haven't used it with WiFi yet, and what I like about the phone is it is VERY EASY to turn off the features that are not being used to conserve battery power. All of these are turned off by default. The phone has been designed with limiting use of battery power. One has an option to charge the battery via a computer or mains. I quickly found mains are the fastest. Also very easy to use.

My phone has a dual SIM card slot, but am only using one free SIM card (that came as a freebee with the purchase) for practising. Am getting to the stage of thinking of forwarding my main cell number to my smart phone. Before I finally get my main cell SIM card to be trimmed down to micro SIM Card size for smart phones.

I am still using a 'dumb' phone! One day maybe?

That's my main phone too. I really like my dumb phone. Checked my J5 this morning and when it is switched off it doesn't drain battery power. I probably should keep it turned on to see how long the battery will last. My dumb phone battery lasts a week.

Same for me. Still didn't make it into the smartphone world. One reason is: I feel I already spend enough time in front of computers. Have a tablet at home for more convenient surfing from the couch using wifi.
Thus I still use a dumb mobile and re-charge it one or two times per week.
