I must have done the Corniche walks hundreds of time in Muscat, definitely one of my favourite hikes.
So this trip was no different. I always take my little camera with, "just in case", and never thought I
could still be surprised, but this one bowled me over.
This was the area I was walking in.
I thought I heard a little bit of yelping, and then started to look a bit closer, among these boulders:
And what a surprise! Not only did I find one of the many dogs that must be hiding out here,
but this extraordinary sight - out in the wild. Probably a cat with a dog complex.
Think these dogs must be strays who have created a pack of their own roaming freely
in this part of Muscat. I've come across the dogs at the foot of hills near the corniche,
but never thought they would create a home under the boulders. Not a bad idea at all.
Next morning when I was on my walk checked Dog's Bay out again and found
the following sights.
There must be some puppies which must account for the yelping I heard. Momma
however was hiding them very well.

Fantastic pictures, Dean. Cute pic of dog and cat together. Need for shelter (maybe warmth) makes strange companions.

Absolutely Stand. But what really struck me is how domesticated they looked. "Wild" cats usually have an enormous circle of fear around them, and would never stay in one position like this cat had for as long as it had as well.

The dog and cat are cute but what are those things they live under? On the first pic it looks like they are piled up nicely but in the latter pictures it's more chaotic. Is it some kind of sea defense?
