Frihost Forums ... still alive and kicking!

Was just thinking the other day how regardless of no Admin, and Ankhanu being the only active Mod around since after first week of October, Frihost is still hanging in there. Compared with other free hosting forums, Frihost's doing pretty well. I always miss Bikerman when he's not here (probably just very busy and no doubt we'll see him soon again), but Indi's still on keeping members who post in the Phil&Rel forum on their toes, and in addition to being one of the best Moderator's I've seen yet in Forums, Ankhanu is contributing some terrific posts as well, particularly in his blogs on a diversity of topics. The Phil and Religion Forum is not thriving, but it's well supported with quality contributions from LxGoodies, Matrix, Kaysch and our other active Frihost members.

We've got Amagard generously sharing all of his latest acquired knowledge and experiences in detailed tutorials about Python, contact management software such as Drupal, traveling, and delivering blog posts I always look forward to read. We also get plenty of specialist contributions and support from Marcuzzo, that I always look forward to read as there is always something to learn from them. TheGremlyn's still here from time to time knocking the socks off me with her great blog posts. The latest being the purchase and installation of something as mundane as a bed. The glue that holds it all together for Frihost Forums to still be counted as active: Standready, Truespeed, Peterssidan, William, Coolclay, Matrix, jmraker, Cybersa, Rosencruz, Sonam, Badai, Blaster, Chasbeen, Zacky, Johans, Insanity, Spinout, catscratches, grofet, and many more ..... even Mrs. Robota made an appearance the other day. Bottom line, when one really looks at it, we still have an active community at Frihost. Just not as active as before.

Best of all. Looks as though the longer Bondings is away, the better the quality of our Servers has become. My hosting space on Server 1 right now is the best I can remember. We're headed for 148 days uptime. Well done Bondings!

Yeah, not a day goes by that I don't log in to a plethora of posts having been added. We've slowed, but we're certainly not dead.

Thanks for the kudos, Dean. I likewise appreciate all the attention you and the other users have been giving the forums, despite our lack of support from above. If I'm not mistaken, I think I'd predicted this sort of thing in the early days of waning Admin forum support. FriHost is about users Smile

Yeah, Dean, I still kick around these forums but then I don't FB or Tweet so I have the time.

Glad you're not into FB Stand. I've got more into Facebook for marketing things and working with its Web page option over the last few months, but even with being more familiar with how it is put together (that came with quite a painful learning curve as FB is clumsy in design), there is no spontaneity for me to want to check in on a daily basis. The sooner I can log out, the better for me.

I miss Bondings.
Hope he will return back soon.

I'm busy with my studies, projects and other works. So it is difficult to spend some time here.
By the way,I'm also using Facebook to market my mobile application.

I'm trying to remember if I signed up for FB when I was in high school or college... I think it was high school... you needed a recognized school in their system to sign up for an account, now anyone can get one. Anyway, when I first got the account (because my friends in school had one and it was the new big thing!) I had no idea what to do with it. I didn't get the whole posting thing and following my friends and their activity. Eventually I stopped using it and even closed my account for a couple years! At some point a lot of my college friends were using it and I think MSN was slowing on its way out. I opened the account again and started adding everyone. I started messaging people through FB and eventually started posting more and more things, mostly pictures. Now it seems most of my life goes on FB (scary thing, possibly a bad thing). I make those random posts about something I was thinking about or something I saw and I just let the people I'm friends with do what they will with that information.

Anyway, there's probably a group for people like me... addicted to FB. Facebook-ers Anonymous?

@TG. All I can think off about a few years ago was my cousin keeping tabs on her children through having access to their Facebook accounts. A most valuable tool for knowing where they are and even more important, what they are up to. Razz

Yeah. This still is one of biggest post2host forums. Also one of the oldest. Proud to be a member Wink

Probably the oldest one still alive. These days it's so easy to get free hosting so people rarely use Post2Host type providers. There are few companies like Hostinger trying to take over the free hosting market. Most of free hosting sites out there belongs to them.

@dude_xyx I also sense people are moving away from shared hosting to VPS. Like a logical step given that modern Websites, particularly WordPress have become so resource hungry, shared hosting is no longer sufficient for their needs.
