With the unbearable heat here in the Middle East of late forties now for days on an end, I'm a little worried about the status of some of the produce particularly the lettuce and spinach leaves. They seem to already be limp before I've purchased them. The iceberg lettuce I saw yesterday already had rusty edges to it.
So in a moment of not thinking too much I spontaneously sliced up some delicious apples from New Zealand (Jazz), cut up some hot house tomato and cucumber (from Holland), avocado (from Mexico) and a small clove of pressed garlic (from China). Added dashes of lime juice (limes from the US) and french dressing (no-oil - Taylor's from Australia) and some curry spice (organic from Germany). Went down very well. Those apples are probably the most perfect apples I've had in a long while. Crunchy, slight tart taste, obviously a great quality apple. Ditto the cucumber. Great salad. Rounded it off with a Nectarine from Spain. Must say Spain has to be King as far as oranges and nectarines are concerned. They deserve to win the Football this year as well .... yeah Spain!
