Where to this summer?

So quite undecided where to travel this summer. Particularly since it is so expensive. But at the same time not knowing what is happening with my contract. I thought it would be a done deal for departure at end of September - another reason for not traveling before then - and then heard that my employer is going to try and get me renewed for another year. Like about 40% chance. Makes things quite uncertain and undecided in my neck of the woods.

Need to make a break however, even if it's only for a few days, as hellish hot here in the Middle East right now. For the last week temperatures in the afternoons have been in late forties Celsius. Big question now, where to go. South Africa is a bit nippy - Canada very expensive to get to. Decisions decisions ... Razz

Best of luck in getting your contract renewed.

True. Not too far to swim. Razz

I've been to Australia - mostly Sydney and Canberra on a quickie visit. Wouldn't mind seeing Sydney again but it is HELLISH expensive to get there, very expensive to stay there, and it's VERY cold - their winter when it is our summer.

New Zealand I'd love to visit one day. Except right now it is even colder than Australia.

Hope that some flash of insight will come to me soon. It usually does when I ask the initial question. Think

That's an EXCELLENT idea. I've always wanted to visit Belgium. And I haven't been to London in a while. Maybe I could do a trip London, Amsterdam, Brussels. Will check out airfares tomorrow.

Strangely enough I've never had a pull for Miami. Closest I've got was watching Miami Vice movies and series.

i have to decide to go Alabama.Because weather is almost perfect in Alabama.

Montgomery has a humid subtropical climate (Kppen Cfa), with short, mild winters, warm springs and autumns, and long, hot, humid summers. The daily average temperature in January is 46.6 F (8.1 C), and there are 3.4 days of sub-20 F (−7 C) lows; 10 F (−12 C) and below is extremely rare. The daily average in July is 81.8 F (27.7 C), with highs exceeding 90 F (32.2 C) on 86 days per year and 100 F (37.8 C) on 3.9. Summer afternoon heat indices, much more often than the actual air temperature, are frequently at or above 100 F.[43] The diurnal temperature variation tends to be large in spring and autumn. Rainfall is well-distributed throughout the year, though January through March are the wettest, and October is significantly drier than the other months. Snowfall occurs only during some winters, and even then is usually light. Substantial snowstorms are rare, but do occur approximately once every 10 years. Extremes range from −5 F (−21 C) on February 13, 1899 [44] to 107 F (42 C) on July 7, 1881.
