Number of guests

This really intrigues me. We've had a really bad down period at end of March. The Forum is dragging. We are making a few more posts daily than we have been making, but are they really enough to justify the hike in number of guests? For the last few days I've noticed guests on average in the eighties/nineties and even over a hundred.

Wonder where those guests come from? Particularly since Bondings isn't doing any SEO or advertising Frihost any where else. That I know of any way. I'm almost certain if someone checked, the number of registered members must be way down as well. Yet the number of guests seem to be flourishing.

I think they are spam bots.

The number of new registered members decreased,
since the guests might see the posts complaining about they did not receive their hosting service
and lost their incentive to register.

The increasing number of guests might be the flooding of spiders from search engines or spam websites.

There always seems to 90-120 bots visiting. If only they could post some good topics.

I think Frihost's SEO is in good shape. I decided to look for something I had posted about recently, and the first hit I got was ... my two-day old on Frihost! (Unfortunately it was a little more difficult to find the information I actually wanted.)

It would be interesting to run some kind of a test, perhaps posting a key phrase on several sites and seeing which ones show up first in search. Sites like slashdot and reddit would be reasonable ones to compare with Frihost.

Irony of course is there is no SEO. More like an accumulation of effort through the years and Google just getting much better at linking things up than it used to to the point of scary. Frihost was rated No. 1 for quite a while at Freewebspace.net and is now No. 6. Which I'm happy it still is mentioned there.

While we're on the subject of Freewebspace.net, it being a valuable resource for people to select free hosting, would be great if people could click on the rating button again so as to try and increase our ranking again:

You've got to scroll down a bit and click on star no. 5. Razz

If you want to do a review of Frihost, you need to register - registration is on the left hand side of the page.

Google knows what sites you visit and that can have a big impact on the ranking. Just saying. Better use a "fresh" computer to check ranking.

I have already rated Frihost at Freewebspace.net so I'm not going to do it again but if I would have done it today I'm not sure if I would have given it 5 out of 5. Sure it's great and I love it very much, but the way things are right now it's not very good for new users. If people actually give honest ratings and reviews I'm not sure if encouraging people to rate and review Frihost will do more good than harm.

I wouldn't recommend frihost to anyone looking for hosting at the moment,a shame as it is a really good host with a great track record.

I doubt there is much honesty in that section of FWS. I'd lie through my teeth for Frihost. But yes, have to agree with Truespeed. If someone needs hosting space in a hurry this is obviously not the place to be. However if someone would like to join a discussion forum with a great variety of topics then I'd recommend Frihost.

This is UNHEARD off .... 141 guests and only 2 registered members:

I'd say the lower the number of posts the lower the number of the guests should be. Ain't working that way at all. Guests are through the roof, and daily posts less than usual. Think

In total there are 62 users online :: 1 Registered, 0 Hidden and 61 Guests

I guess the server being down for a short time reduced our guest visitors.
