Unresponsive communications ...

Another one of my pet peeves, mostly because I don't know how to read unresponsiveness in communications and it is frustrating the daylights out of me.

One writes to someone, either business, or a friend, or someone one works with perhaps in a forum, and there is zero response. OK, that happens, so one tries to be patient, giving this person plenty of latitude and making plenty of excuses for them. After all, this person is a super person and VERY VERY busy. So one writes again, and again no response. Then maybe the third time one lucks out. Hurray! It may be in Skype, and one's happy all seems to be well. And what an awesome person! A genuinely GREAT guy. And so it becomes a pattern of communication. One hit maybe in every three or four communications. Except over the last almost two months ZERO response. The person is on at Skype. He visits the Forum. But he is totally absent from providing admin support or even acknowledging communications about admin support.

So how does one deal with this? Is there a secret recipe? Is there something one should read into this?

I am really curious about this as well.
It's really awkward for me both when waiting for a response, and when trying to end an email exchange :l
Though one thing I find interesting is that the formal email exchanges I've had with someone I didn't know feels a lot smoother than the ones I've had with my professors. Maybe they aren't as busy, or maybe I tend to check my email way more often when it's with my professors, dunno Confused

All we can do is hope that this person is not having personal/family problems that is keeping him away from attending to his 'baby' here.

Unless it is someone you know in real life I wouldn't worry about it,being ignored isn't nice, but if this person is ignoring you then I don't see any gain on your part to continue to try to get their attention.

Great advice Truespeed. Stand, I think you may have something there. It could well be that. Some life altering event.

I also like your perspective Sylin. Like maybe my focus on the unresponsiveness is making it more significant than it really is. If I make my focus smaller, the unresponsiveness may likely not be that significant any longer.

I can always send over the special piggy ops. Mop will distract them with her cute mop-ness while Squee goes in for the kill!

Totally TG. Yesterday couldn't help but think of Squee when I was in the supermarket, and noticed special feed with a picture of Squee on it. Totally Squee'd. Very Happy
