Ottawa 1 - Oscar Peterson

I arrived in Ottawa on the evening of 4th of September. My accommodation was in the Holiday Inn Suites, which turned out to be a great choice. When I arrived, it was raining quite heavily, however on morning of 5th September I woke up to a very bright and sunny day. This wonderful Indian Summer weather continued until my departure to Montreal on 8 September.

My first photo was taken during a walk around the central part of Ottawa city. I discovered this wonderful statue and tribute to Oscar Peterson, a world famous Canadian Jazz Pianist. The statue is situated at the National Arts Centre in Elgin Street.

Here is a sample of him in action:

Nice. I didn't stumble across this when I was in Ottawa in 2008; wish I had.

That was a fabulous piece of music.

Oscar Peterson was one of the great players of Jazz. Ottowa is understandably proud to claim him as one of its own.
