The Dark Day

Be real quiet now, darling, real quiet, John said as he held her down, hands tight around her wrists, eyes red with fury. When she tried to scream, he slapped her across the face and covered her mouth with his right hand. She tried to wriggle free, but he was too big for her. She remembered the day shed introduced John to her parents. My, my, hes a big boy, isnt he? her mother had remarked when his six-foot-three-inch frame barely made it through the door. He was her knight in shining armor, her protector, but just now, he was slowly choking her, cutting off her air supply one squeeze at a time.

Seconds seemed like hours under his grip. She never realized when the world around her started getting blurry. Tears filled her eyes -- tears John had promised hed always be there to wipe away. He wasnt really in a hurry to wipe away her tears just now, she noticed. Then, she realized she was no longer breathing. Her lungs expanded to let the air in, but his hands so tightly wrapped her throat that no air passed through. Her hands were still pounding on his chest, weaker with every stroke. Finally, they just gave away, seemingly tired of the futility. Her eyes were slowly closing now, darkness covering her like a blanket covers a baby. She stopped struggling. As she lay there dying, her lips broke into the tiniest smile, amused at how someone whod promised to protect her with his life was so casually taking hers.

And all because shed killed his worthless children with the chainsaw in his garage.

I like the twist in the tail. You're good with writing the details, definitely had me gripping, wondering what was going to happen next.
