I was in fifth grade when I first discovered RPG Maker, a software for creating role-playing games. I was fascinated by games like the Aveyond series during that time, so I decided to create one. RPG Maker XP was my tool of trade: the editor, the database, scripting and eventing, all packed in one powerful product. I’m currently using RPG Maker VX Ace as my game-making tool, and I’ve never been so happy wielding games with it.
|“An Empty Present” is about a boy, Nathan, who still hasn’t got a present for twelve years. I was only 14 when I made this, so forgive my story-telling. You can see the post here.|
RPG Maker is like a door to me. It opened me to the world of game development. Without it, I wouldn’t be able to discover so much about indie game dev and the game-making industry itself. It’s the foundation that supported me as an indie developer. I learned how to create seamless stories, build challenging puzzles, and drive a concept to reality — with this very simple program.

No. RPG Maker is not opensource software nor freeware.
