Have you got something to say that needs the world to hear? Or are you passionate about what you’re doing and you want to share it with other people? Why not start an awesome blog?
A blog is a type of website maintained by posting events, notes, or other material such as graphics or video. It distinguishes itself from a static website because of its interactivity, where people can post comments, or share your links via their blogs. According to BlogPulse by the Nielsen Company, as of September 2011, there are approximately 172 million identified blogs around the world – and yours can be one of them.
Creating a blog is as easy as 1-2-3, but maintaining it requires a bit of work. This guide will help you on building your own blog and sharing your views, hobbies or anything to the world.
Choose a blogging platform. “Where do I want my blog to be hosted?” There are two options: using a web hosting service (which requires you to pay) or have it for free (but with limited features). Popular sites like Wordpress, Blogger, Livejournal, Typepad and Tumblr offer free and/or paid blog hosting.
Design options can allow your blog to have a look and feel about your subject. Most free hosting sites allow you to choose “themes” for your website, some of these are for free. The only setback for choosing free themes is that other bl0gs will most likely use that theme too. Another option will be hiring a designer or buying premium themes, so your blog will not look like the others.
Decide on a topic. “What am I passionate about?” It can be specific (personal online diaries, travel blogs, etc.) or general commentary (reviews, social blogs, etc.). Definitely, it should be something you are passionate about – or the content you post would not make any impact to your readers.
