EditPlus is a fast and small Notepad replacement. It has a lot of features for web programming. The best feature I think is its ability to open up a file remotely through FTP and save it the same way. Syntax highlighting is also a useful feature. It helps me when I am editing long HTML pages.

EditPlus, like Notepad, can be resized so that it covers only a small portion of the screen. This feature is excellent for making notes when one is browsing.

Agreed, I have used it a long long time ago (5 years ago) and it was very good back then, had support for plugin's and you could pretty much do anything with it, customize it for pretty much any language etc. They had a free version and a paid version, not sure what is the situation now with that, all in all Recommended software.++++

Looks great! And the FTP feature plus the browser-preview is truly a great boon for a web programmer.

I just like the FTP feature and the web browser preview. I began writing webpages back in 98 when all I had was IE and Notepad. I remember opening up Notepad, saving a file as *.html and then opening up the same file in IE. Everytime I complete a section of the webpage, I Alt-Tab to IE and click on refresh. That is the 1-2-3 webpage editing with Notepad and the browser. Man, with Editplus, it became easier. Right now I think the younger generation works with things like WYSIWYGs. They are actually missing the excitement of webpage editing. Very Happy

I checked the price. 35 USD. In your opinion, is 35 USD worth it? I make use of a separate FTP application, FileZilla which is excellent as far as moving files from one computer to another is concerned. Then I also use TotalEdit with its web preview feature. Both can work from a USB FlashDrive which is very convenient when one works on two computers.

35 USD is ok, man. It will pay back for itself with the kind of service it gives.

There is another software that works just as good as any commercial editor like EditPlus. It is called PSPad. It is quite slow in development but it works well in Vista. Go to PsPad.COM. It has FTP and Web-browser Preview.

I like it too.
EditPlus works fast with large file 20000 lines,
ex- list of all "file md5" in cdrom.

find and replace also fast and
can use regular expression.

sorting is very fast with 20000 line in file.

I haven't tried EditPlus on a MySQL database that is almost 1 Gig. EmEditor did a good job opening that kind of file for me.

Tell you the truth, I haven't really done anything as big as the files you mention in EditPlus. I make ordinary html files. I like EditPlus because it can open files from the server.

But I agree that EditPlus is excellent. And it does not cost much.
