Text Editors and Notepad Replacements

I was going through some of the discussions on Notepad Replacements and Text Editing Software so I tried to look at what the pros are saying. I found the following articles on the web.

Top Five Free Notepad Replacesments. According to the author the top five free text editors are the following:

Notepad++
Programmer's Notepad
PsPad
Notepad2
MetaPad

Petri.Co.Il.: Notepad Replacements. The author basically keeps the list above except Programmer's Notepad which he dumps in favor of SimpEdit .

Download CNET: Take Note of These Notepad Replacements. The author is obviously not a hardcore programmer like the authors of the articles above. He limits himself to three text editors.

NoteTab Light
Notepad ++
Akel Pad

Donation Coder on Text Editors. Interesting review of text editors both free and non-free. The author gives his preference to UltraEdit But he mentions why he chooses it and offers some guidelines for choosing the right text editor.

Interesting article. Hmmmm. Looks like Notepad++ is preferred by programmers. I wonder why there is no mention of EditPad Lite? EditPad Lite is the free version of EditPad Pro.

Editpad Lite gets great ratings from certain download centers, but it isn't included in the reviews for a reason that is easy to understand: it is seen as a cripple ware. EditPad Pro the big brother of EditPad Lite is commercial and has more features.

I noticed that for your website, you used EditPlus. Is it all that different from the other Notepad Replacements that you write about in your blog?

I used EXor before when I was still on a Win98 computer. mgeek, ZionEdit is good for the eyes. It is also very functional. But I am not a programmer.
