Longest internet outage you ever experienced ?

Since Friday morning my internet connection provided by Vodafone is broken. That means: no phone, no internet @ home, since 5 days now. Luckily I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini with LTE and hotspot capability and Vodafone gave me free 50 GByte data volume when I called them on Friday to address the problem.

Nevertheless, what duration of an internet outage can be tolerated ? I have read articles in the meantime saying that an outage of 3 working days needs to be tolerated, but anything beyond qualifies you for asking for compensation or might give you the right to cancel your contract in advance; typical contracts here in Germany last 2 years and can be cancelled three month before they end.

So, what is the longest internet outage you ever experienced at home and what did you do about this ?

Probably a day. My contract said three days maximum, although I can't remember that happening, except once in the beginning due to technical technician issues - I had been upgraded supposedly to fibre, it went down almost immediately after installation, and then when a skilled technician finally turned up, he discovered I was still on ADSL - the technicians hadn't connected me up with the fibre lines yet. The contract probably will cover the length of duration - however all contracts probably follow more or less the same wording.

Only once for about 10 hours due to upgrade/repairs. Like no no internet or VOIP.
I am also lucky that I don't lose power often which kills internet service as well.

Since I am encountering another 1 day outage of my internet line at home ( so far, still not working, thus have to use my mobile hot spot ) I also wonder: if a 1-3 days outage is to be tolerated, how many of those outages per year can be tolerated ?

Only when the power went down three weeks ago for a few hours. No fault of the ISP. I did miss my Internet though. Completely dependent on it.

when i was working for a company in the UK the business had just moved premises and for a week the internet was fine but then the internet went down for 2 weeks which was the time it took for the BT engineer to come out to us when they got their the internet started working that morning so it looked like there was never a problem 24 hours later the internet had gone down this time for a month annoyingly when the engineer had got their it started working again something wasn't right at all it then failed again after 3 days. the whole time we had to run off 3g dongles. BT is the biggest provider in the UK but they are also the worst they make huge speed promises but never deliver them.

the only reason they seem to still be running is the fact they own every single telephone wire in the country and they rent these out to other providers, its an absolute scam. luckily their is virgin media a totaly independent fiber optic provider but they dont have the funds to spread out further so still have to pay bt for the majority of their customers.

i got onto a rant their but the longest was definitely a month or more!
