The next Windows10 Anniversary Update

The next Windows10 Anniversary Update is on its way and contains three features I find exciting:
* Calendar Is Now Integrated With the Taskbar
* Set “Active Hours” to Keep Windows Update From Interrupting Your Work
* A bash shell
Also interesting:
* Microsoft’s Edge Browser Extensions

Agreed that really makes it interesting. What has me curious is the bash shell. Looks as though Microsoft wants to get into Linux, but I still can't see how it can be easier than with PuTTY - like how can it be easier? Also who wants Microsoft to know where you are when you're getting into your VPS or other Servers, bad enough already that it has its tentacles in almost all of one's computer strokes, now it gets to follow a person out of Windows as well.

Putty is a terminal to a remote linux server while the built-in bash shell allows you to run linux commands on your Windows machine, a bit similar to cygwin or UnxUtils.

Aha .... thanks for clarifying Amagard. Looks as though it's good for those who want to work on their computers with Linux.

Did not upgrade to Win 10 because I would have lost the Media Center. Win 7 is going to be supported through 2020.

Didn't know that about Windows 7. Great news for me that it will be supported until 2020, particularly in the light of Microsoft hammering my Windows 7 updates with attempts to get me to change to Windows 10. Razz
