Playing mp3 files on Fedora

You would think you can play mp3 files out-of-the-box in Fedora ?
Me too. Nope, wrong thinking.
There seem to be patent related or legal reasons why mp3 support didn't make it into Fedora. I would have to dig deeper to really grasp this.
Anyhow, a pre-req to make it work is getting rpmfusion installed as I described here.
Next you need to install a few more packages ( as I learned here, after following the link in the first answer ):

As root in a terminal window:
dnf install gstreamer{1,}-{ffmpeg,libav,plugins-{good,ugly,bad{,-free,-nonfree}}} --setopt=strict=0

Finally you probably want to get rid off Rythmbox - it simply didn't work for me - and replace it with vlc media player:

dnf install vlc

At the end I have been able to play my first mp3 file on my Fedora box.
