Going to Nepal

Next 3.5 weeks I will be in Nepal together with my wife hiking the Manaslu Track together with Hans Kammerlander and 12 more hikers.
We will stay in Kathmandu for 2 days before we take a 170 km bus ride to Gorkha where we start the hike. From then on we will hike from lodge to lodge circling around the Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world.

Last weekend I did a test packing of my kitpack. We are not allowed to take more than 15 kilogramm with us, but I did well so far: just 13,75 kg.
Will be an interesting trip. For me it will be the first visit to Nepal, my wife already had been there hiking to the Mount Everest Base Camp a few years ago.

Here is my packing list.

Sounds like a great trip Amagard. Am sure you will enjoy it. Probably going to be slightly more challenging than the ones you've shared with us before - i.e. in Europe.

This sounds very exciting and scary at the same time. I couldn't imaging doing something like this. I'd be afraid of getting lost or worse. It's good that you're with 12 other hikers and you're being lead through this. Can't wait for pictures if you have time to snap a few.

Oh wow, hi there. I'm from Nepal. It is so welcoming to find this blog post. The trekking route that you chose seems really fun. I haven't done the Manasalu circuit or trekked in the Manasalu region. My friends did it back in 2013 and their experience certainly sounded like fun.

I have done the small Ghandru trek along with the long ones like Langtang (2008) and Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trekking (2013). They were awesome. In ABC trekking, right after we reached the base camp, the area is so so beautiful and quite scenic. Manasalu must be scenic as well but it's a bit more tough than ABC I guess but nothing that tough.

Enjoy your trek. With be fun in a large team like yours.

Thanks for all the nice comments, folks.
What deanhills and TheGremlyn say describes it well for me: more challenging and a bit of both: scary and exciting. At least for me, since I never have been in Nepal before. My wife, who has been there once a couple of years ago, can't wait to get back. So it must be fun.
But the combination of scary and fun is what makes a good adventure, isn't it ?
Photos certainly will be shared here and mostly on my flickr account.

standready, the hike will be 19 days long, basically 1 day per connection between dots on the map.

playfungames, where exactly do you life in Nepal ?

Amagard, by how long I meant distance (kilometers or miles) Looks very long.

standready, there is a detailed tour description available here ( in German ).
It doesn't specify kilometers, what counts more is altitude. It also specifies number of hours for the hike.
To you give you a taste: the first hike will be an easy one: up 300 m, down 160 m, 6-7 hours. A tough stage will be crossing the Larkya Pass: up 900 m ( to an altitude of 5220 m ), down 1730 m, 10 - 12 hours.
