I've had good creative thinking moments in the back of a bus or car going a distance. Like that point where your mind is floating and ideas zap in from left or right.
I totally agree with the open office setup as a killer for productivity. I'm completely amazed at it being allowed.
Isn't it amazing what you read about the topic Productivity on a single Monday morning:
Top 10 Ways to Brainstorm New Ideas: Get bored, detach, mindmap, combine, sleep, drink a beer, take a walk, take a shower, no censoring, capture ideas.
Again: detach. Give Yourself a "Think Break" to Keep Your Long-Term Work Focused
Stay away from openoffice spaces: The Open-Office Trap. Several studies revealed how productivity sucks in such an environment and how it impacts all of our productivity, satisfaction and finally: health. That's probably the reason why at the end so many people love to work in their home office.
And: "Never Touch Things Twice". Don't multi-task, avoid context switching and distractions. Thus: get out of the open office space you have to work in.
