|Have you ever seen the Andromeda galaxy?|
asks APOD today with a nice photo where you can see the Andromeda galaxy rising over the Italian Alps.
I didn't know that it can be seen like that.
Nevertheless, as APOD writes, over the next few billion years it will get closer and closer.

I get having a long exposure time. However, when I took a picture of the sky (I was playing with exposure times to see what I could see) and one point of light in the sky (and a few others) traveled across the frame. I can't tell the difference between possible satellites in the shot and stars but... I would expect some movement in the picture... Hmm...

This was taken with an extremely long exposure time of about 4 minutes!
