Europe - the best place for life beyond earth ?

Recently I discovered the Astronmy Picture Of The Day ( APOD ) site, which delivers one astonishing astronomy photo every day. A real impressive one is this one from November 3rd this year:

In Green Company: Aurora over Norway

You have to see the large version !

The photo today shows Europe, a moon of Jupiter, which apparently seems to be the best place for life beyond earth in our solar system.

deanhills, I guess he must have climbed up there. Or stayed there in a tent somewhere ? Nevertheless - he must have done it at least three times before he had a clear night like this one.

Must be an amazing feeling to be standing in that spot. Goose pimple stuff.

It looks amazing. But if you know photography you can turn simple things into a astonishing picture.

I noticed a couple of issues with this post. I believe the name of the Jovian moon is Europa (didn't double-check it). The title of your post is rather strange if referring to the continent of Europe! Also, you linked to the "today's" picture, which changes every day, instead of the archived page for that day.

As usual for your posts, this is interesting and informative. I hope you keep up the good work!
