Today is children's day.
Planned to take my princess out but couldn't make it, because she is still recovering from her bad cold, didn't want to overtire her.
We only went for a short walk in a nearby park before lunch. She was satisfied though, so that was good.
After dinner I turned on TV, meant to find some kids shows for her to watch. She is very into music and dancing, usually there would be something on for kids on a day like this. We did find two channels showing a stage performance for kids, what shocked me was that the shows were filled with sorrow and clips of earthquake senes, with kids singing sad songs. It was a terrible feeling watching the shows rather than happy! The were not trying to make our kids (including those poor kids survived from the quake) happy! I quickly turned it off and read my girl stories instead. Flooded by memorial events, horrifying senes and stories on TV and news paper, my three year old was frightened terribly. She worries that she might experience earthquake and lose her Mum and Dad, or she might die. I don't understand why do little kids have to be involved in this. It's not that I don't care about lives affected by the disaster, I just don't see any good to involve young kids and enforce tragic images into little brains of toddlers.
Now I don't even know how to help my little one to get over her nightmare. Everytime she hears 'Earthquake' she would say 'Mummy I'm scared!'.
