My new smartphone

I bought a Google Nexus 4 and it arrived yesterday. I don't w
Know why I bought it, I guess because the price was attractive, but the thing is I don't need a gadget like that. And since my last phone was a fairly simple Samsung one, I'm feeling the difference and I feel it hard. Yesterday for example, I was trying to check things in whatsapp and accidentally called two different people. I know I need time to get used to my new baby, but I don't want to call everyone in my contact list while doing so!

So any apps you guys recommend? Very Happy

That is why I just have a plain, simple dumb phone but my dumb phone is basically for emergency contact.
I do have Google phone app on my tablet though. so does that make it a 'smart' tablet? laugh

I'm the same ... I've got an old Nokia1100 and its battery is still lasting from when I purchased it in 2004 no less. The battery only needs to be charged once a week.

However, like Stand most of my social interaction is on computer and I find Skype great for that.

If I were to be away from home quite a bit as well as not have regular day time employment, I'd probably go the smart phone route as well.

I was checking out Nexus in Vancouver, Canada when I was there, but after your review I think I've just nixed Nexus off my list. Maybe by the time I need a smart phone hopefully there will be some simple versions available that are lighter on batteries with the option of installing bells and whistles, instead of having bells and whistles I'll never be using whether I want to have them or not.

I used to have a nexus 4. I had bought it in April for my Birthday and in july it started to fail from time to time. so I took it to the shop where I had bought it ( in Germany because these are not sold in Belgium) to get it repaired.

after 2 weeks I received message that I could go and pick up my phone, which was not repaired because they could see water damage in it. d'oh!

very sad because I loved the phone, simple ( for a droid ), the price/quality ratio is a killer and this one is updated directly by google and not the manufacturer( LG ).

apart from heating up, low battery life ( especially in the beginning ) and a rattling sound when you shake it this phone was my first choice for a new phone.

things didn't turn out as expected and now I have the Xperia Z ( which I love even more Razz )

OK, will watch out for Xperia Z. Gotta be a good one. Razz

13mp camera, full HD 1080p display, and last but not least: water resistant. Laughing

Water resistant would work for me, particularly if I were to return to Vancouver in Canada. The MP of the camera is awesome.

Holy cow! I've posted this topic two weeks ago! So there's another side effect of Nexus 4 that I want to list: freaking time warping! First of all, thanks for your suggestions, cybersa! One app that I would like to recommend to everyone is Sleep as Android. It's just made of awesome! Also I got addicted to Candy Crush in these last two weeks so forgive me! The thing took control over me. Razz I'm still getting used to the keyboard but Swipe is helping a lot (it already came with my phone). And everything that Marcuzzo said is true: it tends to heathen up from time to time and battery life is not very good. Guess we can't have everything. I've installed Instagram and if you guys want to add me, feel free to look me up. I'm @marianacurci on Instagram. Everything said and done, I'm pretty satisfied with nexus 4. Very Happy

Going to try Sleep as Android.
Before that i used Alarm Clock Xtreme.

I am going to have to look into the phones mentioned here, as I am thinking of replacing my phone very soon.

App wise I have always been one for functionality for the alarm, and most of the time the one the phone comes installed with works fine for my purposes. I may even have to take the time to try out the apps on my current phone to see if they are to my liking.

Good luck with the phone. (yeah I know two weeks late, but still.)

Did you try the app? It's doing marvelous things to my sleeping time. I've also installed SleepStats to get tips and more graphics about how I sleep and how much I should sleep and when should I fall asleep.

What do you want from your cellphone? Most of the things I got with my Nexus 4 weren't needed, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. Very Happy
