Donated my hair today

Yesterday I decided that my hair was way too long for the summer we're having. I was reading something about women cutting their hair and then donating it to cancer patients, so it can be made into wigs. It's a beautiful initiative and that made me want to cut my hair even more. I've been growing it since forever and then I decided that I needed to cut almost everything. It used to be 70 cm long and now it's about... I don't know, 20 something. Didn't measured again. I've donated what got cut for a local cancer organization and I know that it may seem stupid, but I felt so happy. I wish I could do more to help.

My father died from cancer 9 years ago and I understand what these people feel. Usually I donate blood (my father needed transfusions on a daily basis), but what I made today felt more symbolic. It was like I was getting rid of not only my long long hair, but getting rid of bad things that I was carrying with me. And I feel a new person. I don't need all this hair, but someone somewhere may need it. Smile

great attitude Smile
People in place don't donate it to patients.
They usually donate it to temples.
But, we people here usually donate blood very often. Smile
Even my grandfather died because of cancer 5years before, i still remember how he suffered from it. Sad

Not enough people give what they can in my opinion. It is tragic, but I think it is true. The more people who give the "little" things help sometimes more than those that give the "big" things.

Thank you guys. Smile
I donated blood two days after I got my hair cut and I believe in doing what you can to help people.

Congratulations to you!
I have donated my long hair several times to an organization here in the US - - they makes wigs for cancer patients primarily for children.
Losing all that hair (24-30 inches) feels so much lighter only to start growing it out again. First time was when my friend Sammy dared me to get it cut off on stage with him. Then see who's would grow out the fastest.

I wish we had organizations like Locks of Love here in my country. It's not only about the hair, it's about giving hope to people. I'm thinking of growing my hair again and donating it again. The change was so welcome in my life!

There should be more guys like you. Also, guys with long hair are so cute. Smile

That's a wonderful donation. I've never been able to grow my hair long enough for something like that, but if I ever did and then felt like cutting it all off (not like I did this past summer, that was too much) I will look out for a way to donate it instead. Maybe someone else will appreciate the flecks of grey in my hair Wink

Me, I am just plain scary. Long or short hair. Now, gals with long hair are, well - sweet. Twisted Evil

Great ! I didn't even know you can donate hair !

I believe that too. There are small things people can do which can make other peoples life better. Like people can register to domain their body organs and eyes. It shouldn't be a problem since it happens only you are dead and you don't need any of those if you are dead. There are so many people in waiting lists hoping to have heart, kidney transplants while they could have given chance to live.
