Guinea Pigs!

Ok, so I don't have a whole lot to stay about the piglets. I did end up switching them around so Mamma ended up with the bigger cage and Squee went back into her old cage. Part of that reason is Squee is somehow able to keep her cage fairly dry and that is a royal pain when you try to clean it out. All the shavings just sort of fuse together and stick to the bottom of the cage and I'm sort of scraping and digging to get the shaving off. Mamma, on the other hand, is a fairly wet guinea pig and she prances around a lot these days so I figure she could use the space.

I also moved some stuff around in my other room so I could start using my desktop more and I pulled out the second monitor. I put Squee's smaller cage on top of the wooden trunk I have and that's next to my desk. Now if I'm not careful I have Squee in the corner next to me demanding attention and then this happens!

Then we have to take her out because she won't stop. She might suck at chewing on bars but it's still annoying when you're working on something.

As for Mamma. She's cheerful. I've let her crawl around the room and she knows how to get in and out of her cage if she wants to. I'm still working on the timing and general training where I have her out for a period of time then I put her back. When she's in her cage she goes to the bathroom. When she seems like she's done I take her out again. Repeat this sequence for a while. Eve was like this. Mamma is a smart girl so I'm sure we'll get there.

Here's a shot of her chillin' in my robe while I was playing Dragon Age Inquisition. She just looks so warm and snuggly!

Wow! Mamma's cute. What made you choose Mamma for the name? How does she get on with Squee?

Thanks for the update on Mamma and Squee, TG. Cute pigs! How do they get along with each other?

I chose the name Mamma because she actually had 2 babies of her own. I'm not too sure how that happened. She wasn't even a year old and I actually have a picture of her with other guinea pigs at the store before someone bought her. At the time, I wasn't looking for a guinea pig because I had two of my own still. So... either she was in a cage at the store with a sibling and when she was bought she had the babies. Or the people who bought her had her mixed up with another guinea pig that was male and she had babies. Either way, she was back at the store on that day where I decided, halfway to the store, that I wanted a guinea pig.

It was a bit of a tough call. I liked the look of her. I didn't realize she was the mom until the owner mentioned it. They kind of wanted them all to go together. Or if I wanted one of the babies they'd like me to take two of them to keep them paired. I ended up just taking the mom. Hence Mamma.

As for how well my pigs get along. They don't. At first, it was Mamma that was posturing but eventually Squee kicker her ass and terrified her. I keep them separate and they're not usually out together since I don't want to break up any brawls and I don't want one to end up injured.
