Second Cat

So I got a second cat a couple months ago. It only happened because a woman I work... not with but she works at the University in another department. Anyways, we're friends and a friend of hers needed to find a new home for his 2 year old cat, Luna. I thought about it and basically that day decided I wanted to the cat. I went to see her a couple days later and I fell in love. She was very friendly and reminded me of Mynx, except that she's all black with a few white hairs here and there.

A couple days later I went over, got her and some of her things and brought her home. Mynx was... wary of this new cat and a little annoyed that I bought someone to her home. Luna was just freaked out because it smelled different and there was another cat watching her and she didn't really know me.

I did wake up to find her here:

Classic Mynx move. A couple days later this happened! Closest they had ever been although Mynx couldn't actually see Luna and vice versa:

Then, while camping out on my couch one Saturday night Luna decided to camp out around my legs:

Then I started to question whether Luna was becoming more comfortable with my apartment or if Mynx was becoming a bad influence:

I now have a cat who is FAR more interested in laser pointers! She jumped on the walls and runs around in circles trying to catch that red dot!!

Mind you I face this most mornings when I wake up. I should also point out Mynx seems to become more active with the sun so she currently tries to wake me up at 5am when I don't want to be up until 6am for work.

I also still prefer to take pictures of Mynx because black cats are hard to take pictures of! Their features are masked in darkness and I've had to over expose my shots to see her clearly!

Also, I don't trust Luna on the balcony like I do Mynx. So if she comes out she's wrapped in a blanket with me:

I still bother Mynx though since she's my baby and we're close. We have the bond we've developed since she was little. No offence to Luna and I'm sure we'll get there. Mynx can match one part of my personality, Luna can match up with my other one.

I should also point out that Luna really likes boxes and she's 2/3's the size of Mynx so she can hide under the couch and in small spaces like this.

Oh yea, this is not Mynx being social, this is Mynx saying this is her chair cause it's new and far superior to her current balcony chair.

More of Luna's balcony shots:

And Mynx becoming more obnoxious on the bed. I finally slept in until noon. I never sleep in anymore as I'm either getting woken up at 5am during work days or 7am on 8am on weekends.

What a beautiful cat! And amazing eyes as well. Can understand why you couldn't resist. Looks as though she is fully coming round and Mynx is starting to accept her too.

After about 3 or 4 days Mynx wanted to play but Luna didn't want anything to do with her. Now they run about and sometimes Mynx is chasing Luna but sometimes Luna gets the jump on Mynx. Since Luna is a smaller cat she has an advantage because she can hide under the couch and Mynx can't get under there. Mynx is maintaining her dominance in this household so she's more likely to initiate the chases and Luna usually finds herself rolling over in defense.

Haha .... maybe Luna will get Mynx to exercise a little bit so she can lose a little bit of weight.

How is Luna getting on with Eve & co?

Now you have two pretty cats. Good for Mynx to have a playmate to keep her company while you are out. What does Luna think about Squee and the mop (Eve)?

I had Squee out and running around. Luna was very interested in her and would run across the couch to see if Squee had come out the other end. She would playfully bat at Squee and sniff her. Squee was posturing a lot and puffed up her fur and raised her head. She'd waddle towards Luna and nip at her. When Luna was distracted by Even in her cage Squee came up and started nipping her ear! Squee is not afraid of these cats! The cats are afraid of Squee!!!
