What's a Routine?

I suppose since the 26th of June I've been kitting my butt to the Gym. I had thought, since I signed a 1 year contract, that after the 1 year I'd lose my membership. Well I went to the gym and asked about it when I went there and I was told that after the 1 year the membership rolls over to a month to month membership that I could cancel at any point.

Well I don't want to cancel it. I went in there, hopped on a bike and set a hard pace while reading the first Game of Thrones book on my PlayBook. The first two times I went (I think it was just the Wednesday and Thursday or something) the chapters I read took a half hour to read, so that's how long I pushed myself on the bike.

Last week I think I went Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and one day I had to practically read 2 chapters to make the half hour. It's actually just over a half hour since I need about a 30 seconds to a minute to really get going. So I'll usually bike for about 32 minutes and then cool down by killing the resistance and slowing down to slow my legs down.

Assuming I'm not too hungry after work then I'll head over almost right away after changing. If I'm starved when I get in I try to grab something quick and small since I don't want a full stomach at the gym, just enough to get me through that workout and hope to make some real food.

So far this week I can tick off Monday. I'll probably go most days this week since it gives me time to read (it's like I read a bit faster while biking, I don't know). I really had to push myself to go, but it's a bit easier now but I'm still stubborn. Sometimes on the bus ride home I just want to sit around and watch Netflix or play Skyrim. I have been getting a little restless of late so I can't seem to sit and play a game for any length of time or sit and watch a tv show or movie for that long. It might be that I'm so close to have a finished balcony that I'm going crazy (cabin fever). I think Mynx wants out on the balcony too since she lies on the ledge by the door.

That is very good to have a routine. Mine went out the window until I get settled into this new job and overtime reduces. I miss being able to get my daily walk.

Hehe I got complimented in a weird so of way Very Happy I went into a quick IT meeting for our open house we're having tomorrow and stood against the wall (no way I was sitting next to the director of IT! I don't care what they say, I think he bites!). One of the other guys in IT came in and stood in the door and I had a mini flashback to when I was like 8 years old and encountered one of my older cousins. I looked over and up! So he's kind of tall. Well after the meeting he messaged me saying 'btw, are you shrinking?' I initially took this as a jab at my height. I'm 5'5" and I consider myself average, if not taller than most of the girls that come to the desk and some of the guys! So I went along with joke that I was vertically challenged, but he clarified and said he meant I looked like I'd lost more weight. And then admitted that yes, I'm vertically challenged Very Happy

That's nice to have some result people can see.

How much does your annually gym membership cost?

Is it a campus gym in your school?

I don't go to the campus gym. I go to a women's fitness club a stones throw from where I live. I think I pay a few cents shy of $50 a month for my membership, so about $596 a year I guess... Might not be great but I like the environment. I feel more comfortable around just women. Working out around men always made me nervous. I know I could get a discount if I got a permanent job at work and I think you get some amount you can put towards taking a class or your gym membership there... I may switch but not any time soon.

I like to take my walk early or late to avoid the heat of the day. I am just walking along the neighborhood streets. Somewhere around 3 miles most days. My knees won't let run anymore.
I need to get a good bicycle, There is a path not far from home that is on an old railroad right of way that goes through several towns. I think it goes for 20+ miles.
