According to Standready I haven't posted in about a week. I'm alive, I've managed to crawl out of my hole and have acquired some sense of normal.
The Friday before Mother's day I was on my 3rd day in a row of getting maybe 2 hours of sleep at night. I called in the white flag and slept until about 10 or 11am and went to breakfast with a friend. It was a good mean and a good talk. He'd brought up Mother's Day and I said I probably wasn't going to do anything. Mother's Day was never a big day, we just did the card thing and that was about it... Kind of sad now that I think of it... Anyways, he said I should try and do something because she was an amazing woman and a great mother and she did a good job of raising me. After suppressing tears in the restaurant I kept those thoughts in the back of my head. I ended up at the Mall and indulged in some retail therapy. I think the first stop was the Telus store where I b-lined it for the BlackBerry Q10. The day before I'd had a good chat with one of the networking staff about Blackberries and he has the Z10 and he can't wait to get the Q10. According to him when you're watching Doctor Who and texting your friend it is very important that you pay attention. It's harder to do that when you have to look at the touch screen to type, with a QWERTY keyboard you don't have to do it.
I already knew I'd have to pay off the balance owing on my pile-o-poo phone (just under $150) and the BlackBerry Q10 was $199 up front, plus this and that... I walked out of the store with a new phone and my bank account about $415 lighter. I also ended up helping to sales associate set up her school email on her iPhone. For some reason she thought it could only be set up on BlackBerry's... Telling someone who helps people with this all day that it can't be done!?! I think not!!! She essentially loved me after everything worked.
I love my new phone. I love the keyboard, I love that I still have a touch screen. The battery life is about 2 days. Everything is so easy to access! I can easily switch between my email accounts and Facebook and text and BBM (don't really use that). It's all right there at the side, just a swipe away! I mean, BlackBerry doesn't really have all the apps I want but I'm sure they'll get there. I had thought about getting the new iPhone... but I have the newest iPod Touch... it doesn't really make sense to me since the only thing separating them is the ability to make a phone call, send a test when I'm not on WiFi. The iPhone also cost more upfront and the promo 50 plan was better on the BlackBerry, at least I think it is.
Well, after setting up my phone with a few contacts and email accounts I wandered in Danier Leather and bought my dream jacket! It was a $500 jacket that went down in price a few times until it was down to $249. I bought the leather care kit that cost $24 and somehow walked out of the store having paid just under $240... How did that happen? Somehow I got a 25% discount. Awesome! Love the jacket, and somehow I fit into an extra small! Unheard of!! Well, I should say I fit into a particular XS since they're individually cut so each one fit differently. It certainly is my kind of jacket though and I had been eyeing it for a few months now.
What next, bought some shirts for work and relaxing and a new pair of kapris jeans. I could use a few more of those since I'm not a huge fan of shorts. I don't care how many people tell me I would look good in shorts! I don't feel like I have the legs for it! Nuts to you all!
This is what I ended up getting as a Mother's Day gift:
It's simple... But when I saw it I just felt kind of overwhelmed... Each time I look at it I see the truth that my mom was a great person in life... so many people loved her. Now she's that angel or whatever that watches over me from above... Or something like that. I'd like to think she isn't missing out on everything that I've done or will do...

I am very happy that you acquired some sense of normal. I really need to try that also.

Like it that you're getting to be an expert on phones as well. Your info about Blackberry is great. I'm thinking of getting a smart phone as I'm still on a very old Nokia. However, I tried my sister's Nokia that looks like the Blackberry when I was in South Africa earlier in the year and it felt right weird with the small buttons (I've got large fingers). I prefer the real phone number buttons. I tried LG touch screen phone in Canada when I was there last year, and hated how the number pad kept disappearing on me, particularly when I had to make a phone call where one has to press 1 for this, then 2 for that, and the number pad gone when I got to the next number.
Great T-Shirt with your new Avatar!

That LG phone you tired sounds like the one I had. I didn't realize the number pad did that during a call and I had to make a few of those (press 1 for english, press 4 to bash your head against a wall). I found if I flailed a bit the number pad came back
