Apartment Hunting - Application Process

*Crossing my fingers*

Walked into a 1 bedroom apartment this afternoon and I basically loved it. The layout was different from the smaller one I'd seen before in another building so it almost made the place seem bigger.

When we walked in the kitchen was immediately off to the left and the bathroom was down a 3 foot long hallway (hardly a hallway at all!) and there was a coat closet. The kitchen had decent counters, better than in the other smaller 1 bedroom I'd seen. Fridge was a good size and the oven was nice. Had a lot of cupboard space. There's also this corner of the kitchen where I could see putting a small table, just to put something on, or even like a shelf? Might just leave that for Mynx's food and water bowls.

The living room/dinning room area looked pretty big and the change in layout makes the possible placement of a tv stand or computer desk or arm chairs or couches seem a little more possible and less awkward. The bedroom was a good size although the closet was not nearly as big as the one from the other unit. Siigh! But its still bigger than what I had with my parents. There's a linen closet just outside the bedroom door as well as the utility closet that has the water heater in there and the breaker panel.

I'll have to draw up the layout from my head and try and post it up here so you can see. Might do a comparison with the smaller 1 bedroom layout.

I already had an application form filled out because I knew I wanted the place. The people had vacated a whole month early so as long as they give over procession to the company they'll get in there and repaint and steam clean the carpets and stuff before I have to move in. Damnit I'm getting that apartment!

They said it'll take about 24 hours before I hear back to see if I got approved. If I do I am jumping on this place. $865 a month inclusive is manageable considering the things I know I have to pay and how much I make. I've worked up a pretty good excel sheet that shows me these things so I'm excited.

WHEN I get this place I don't think I'll move everything in one go. I might just get the major stuff in first (bed and animals and clothes, bathroom stuff, some kitchen things that I have). Then I can slowly bring the rest in and place things. That will take some of the stress off and I won't be standing there with a living room full of boxes wondering where to put things!

Then once I get settled I can look at the place and hunt around to see what things could place it a little more me, a little more homey. Like getting a TV stand, or a bookcase (I have a lot of those). A computer desk, seeing as I don't have one of my own Razz

It could be a nice place. I could be very happy there... Smile

Best I could come up with... Actually, the bedroom is bigger then that kitchen, so that makes the living room/dinning room bigger too!

Sounds to dream for. I'd give my eye teeth for a balcony. Which floor is it on? What is the view like?

Cross fingers you get it, as it sounds as though it has your name already on it. Cool

I was approved! I'm going in to sign the lease on Monday. It's on the 4th floor of their 8 story building. So I would get the late afternoon sun and sunset because I'm on the west side. It'll be neat during a thunder storm cause I could probably be out on the balcony and I might not get wet. Oh I can't wait!!!

Congratulations! That's awesome. Really love that balcony, and fourth floor is great as well.
