Turtle Beach Earforce X12 headset

I bought this headset in May of 2013 to replace the X11 headset that I had to sell. Until today I thought the cheaper Turtle Beach headsets were a good deal at around $60, but to be fair I only had my X11 for around a year before I had to sell them. I think that the sound quality is pretty good and they are comfortable as well.

But, as I found out today, the construction of the headset does not seem to be very durable. The ear pieces swivel in both directions, and on one of the places where they rotate there is very little plastic holding it together, a point where there is naturally a large degree of stress. Well, that's where my headset broke. I've emailed Turtle Beach but I've already heard that this is not covered under warranty.
I'll post a reply if it is, but just be warned, the sound quality is pretty good, but I would have expected a $60 headset to last a year at least. If this is your expectation as well, you might want to consider a different headset.

So, when I have the money, my next task is to find a somewhat reasonably priced headset that is not so cheaply constructed an write another review. Smile

Well, a surprising update:

I emailed Turtle Beach support and they had me take pictures of the damage and told me to return the headset. So maybe I will get it replaced/repaired. Smile

Well, good news. Turtle Beach emailed me and said my replacement headset will be shipped out next week. Smile I'm happy to hear that, because I really liked my headset before it broke. It's comfortable and it sounds really nice. I use it for headphones for my xbox and computer, even when I'm not using the mic.

Well, I finally got my replacement headset a couple of days ago, and I'm happy to be able to use it again. Now I can make fun of little kids after I beat them on Battlefield! lol I actually haven't tested out the mike yet, because I haven't played a game where anyone was using a mic since I got it, but everything else is working fine.

Unfortunately, I tripped over the long cord and broke the headset again. Maybe I should get a cordless model next time. The good news is that they were only $40 at GameStop recently (but I didn't have an extra $40 lol). I think for the sound quality they are worth that much, but not sure how long they will last.

Well, for my early birthday present I got another X12 headset! Very Happy I'm going to try to be really careful with it and hope this one can at least make it 6 months. Maybe I could order something, but in GameStop there was really nothing in that price range (unfortunately they went back up to $60) but one other headset for $50, and since I did not recognize the brand I wasn't going to take a chance on it.

So now I wait and see how they hold up...

I haven't updated my blogs here in a while but my last X12 headset broke again. The weak plastic hinge point broke on it. I was going to send it back again but I decided not to because I've already had to pay shipping to return it the first time. When I get a new headset I'll post a review, but it's not going to be Turtle Beach next time.
